Watershed to the Bay

Hands Working Together"Watershed to the Bay" is a dockside hands-on Watershed Education program for up to 65 participants tailored for 4th and 5th graders. The program uses the 106-year-old ERNESTINA for activities that focus on the environment, human impacts and the connections to other communities

Students participate in structured learning stations as they look at watersheds, wetlands, the water cycle, water use, animal adaptations, sea scallops and pollution plumes.

The program was developed through support from the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts (CFSM), the Southeastern Environmental Education Alliance (SEEAL) and the Buzzards Bay Action Committee (BBAC). with additional support from the MA Department of Education. It is jointly produced and hosted by education staff members of Schooner ERNESTINA and various organizations of SEEAL including the Coalition for Buzzards Bay, the Lloyd Center for Environmental Studies, Westport River Watershed Alliance and MassPIRG Water Watch.
