Watershed to the Bay "Watershed to the Bay" is a dockside
hands-on Watershed Education program for up to 65
participants tailored for 4th and 5th graders.
The program uses the 106-year-old ERNESTINA for
activities that focus on the environment, human
impacts and the connections to other communities
Students participate in
structured learning stations as they look at
watersheds, wetlands, the water cycle, water use,
animal adaptations, sea scallops and pollution
plumes.
The program was developed
through support from the Community Foundation of
Southeastern Massachusetts (CFSM), the
Southeastern Environmental Education Alliance
(SEEAL) and the Buzzards Bay Action Committee
(BBAC). with additional support from the MA
Department of Education. It is jointly produced
and hosted by education staff members of Schooner
ERNESTINA and various organizations of SEEAL
including the Coalition for Buzzards Bay, the
Lloyd Center for Environmental Studies, Westport
River Watershed Alliance and MassPIRG Water
Watch.
