We are here tied up in the port of
Wilmington amongst the big ships. The weekend has
gone well and crews have had the chance to
exchange tours of many of the ships. The track
for the Parade of Sail on Friday is shown to the
right. We are all in a
line alongside now with the Polish ship, Dar
Mlodziezy 360', the furthest upstream in the
Christina River. Next in line is the 376' Russian
ship Kruzenshtern followed by the 154' Polish
barquentine Pogoria. The Ernestina is next with
the 195' Danish schooner Eendracht behind us and
the Russian ship Mir next at 358' followed by two
container ships that are unloading in the Port of
Wilminton. Wilmington is one of the major ports
for bannana deliveries. Dole and Chiquita are the
two ships.
Our crew enjoyed the crab fest
last night and crew competition today. They
combined efforts with the crew from the Schooner
A.J. Meerwald. for a great third place effort in
tug-o-war dramatic wins against the Navy engineer
team- won by endurance. No contest with the knot
tying #1, Mates Goodwin and Sterner were also
responsible for correcting the judges on their
misunderstanding of tying a proper rolling hitch.
Most dramatic event of all was the 'FM Morrissey'
surprise victory in the hawser pull complting the
event in a record time of 44 seconds. Overall
Schooner Ernestina crew WON the ASTA competition
for TallShips Delaware!
The weather has been sunny, hot
and humid for three days with SSW winds around

freshened afternoon vertical development of
clouds are present. Two sails today and one
tomorrow- taking out a full boat all three sails
with a few spots on each sail from the crews of
the other vessels.
