Ernestina Logbook Page

Date: Tuesday, June 27, 2000
Time: 1700 EDT

All hands were up at 0400 to bend on the storm trysail and haul anchor inside Cape Henlopen. The winds were SW 15-20 and gusty. With the seas having an easterly component we rolled our way up the coast and the trysail proved to be a more manageable sail than the gaffed main. Another hazy hot and humid day felt a bit cooler offshore as we sailed about 15 miles offshore before heading in. We are tied up alongside the Pagoria, a Polish ship in Atlantic City at Trump Marina. Tomorrow we are up again at 0400 to catch the high tide on our departure. Here's hoping the cold front will cool things off as it passes tonight.....

On the chart image you can see Mondays track in orange and the earlier part of today in red.

We made it into Atlantic City about 1600 today and all is well. Two additional girl scouts arrived and we met with Bunny Lopes and Levi from the Atlantic City Redevelopment Authority. A group of local New Jersey girls did arrive at 1230 to greet Ernestina coming in but couldn't make it back later today. They had a few other ships to look at. Inette along with girl scouts aboard will be writing them a thank you. Tara (cooking) had the night off as a catered BBQ was waiting on the dock for us. Many thanks for the great hospitality from our hosts!

We would like to thank Lotus and IBM for donation of software, hardware and funding to enable regular electronic updates from the ship.
