offered a course on Schooner Ernestina
"Exploring the Coastal Environment"
under the great leadership of Dr. Jack Looney
from the Geography Department. Jack has led
schooner-based trips for undergraduate students
for years. After boarding
at 1400, departure and a run through Hell Gate at
1500, the ship motor sails past Rikers Island and
the runway at LaGuardia Airport (bottom of image)
to enter the western end of Long Island Sound.
Anchorage tonight is off Oak
Neck by 2230.
