We sailed overnight under four lowers on
a light SW'ly breeze. After breakfast at 0700 we
gybed over to a port tack to sail a course over
Roseway Bank converging in on the coast toward
Halifax. You can see the 90 degree change in
course at that point. We
were determined to use the sails and not the
engine all the way to Halifax. We altered course
slightly to pass over Roseway Bank in search of
marine life. We spotted three white sided
Atlantic dolphins, shearwaters and stormy
petrels.
The evening breeze held light
but steady offering a wonderful opportunity for
an evening program of guest speakers...from the
ships company. A talk on whales followed by
Wedgeport's own Blair Boudreau's history of Nova
Scotia. Crewmember Mike Stewart followed up with
an intiguing explanation of the geological
history of the area.
