Greenport, Long Island to Nantucket Transit with Members Aboard begins.

After boarding 5 Members for our transit to Nantucket we left Greenport at 0820 this AM in Thick Fog, and very light SE breeze. Once  we cleared Gardiners Island, all hands set the Foresail and Jumbo. We continue to Motorsail to the East towards Vineyard Sound. The visibility has improved to approx.  half mile. Unless the wind fills in, we will anchor tonight as the fog settles in again.

1900 We've dropped anchor at Tarpaulin Cove beside the Schooners  Lettie G. Howard and Spirit of Massachussetts.  The fog has settled in thick, allowing us only to see the ghosts of our company. All is damp, but beautiful and serene.  We've launched a dory and are having some time for quiet recreation but all will be turning in soon. Members and crew will stand Anchor Watch. We plan to Haul back early in the Morning to carry on towards Nantucket.

Special thanks to Stephen Wolfe for sending along some of the photos!
