Summer Sound Program with Schooner Sound
Learning Six-day Transit New Haven to Boston. Day
6 Final Day. We got to
sleep a half-hour later than usual to 0630
instead of 0600. After our morning muster we
cleaned our bunks out and cleaned all the living
spaces and even washed off the outside of the
boat. We made the boat shine. Passing the galley
whisk around, we all spoke of our most memorable
moment of the trip before we raised anchor to
head to the dock. We will miss the new friends
weve made, and the community weve
shared. Surprise, when we got to the dock ,
someone had ordered eleven pizzas for us for
lunch!!!!!!!!! Now to the bus

The day is not over for the
Schooner Ernestina. During the evening the
Pelagic Sailing Club came aboard for a sail out
to the Harbor Islands and back shown on the lower
course track to the right.
Pelagic Sailing Club Sail shown on the
lower chart image along with a trip out on the
bowsprit and sailing along at sunset.
Off with an eager crew for a
sail in Boston Harbor tonight. The Pelagic
Sailing Club has been working together since
September to organize this trip. Members gather
together throughout the season for sailing and
socialization. Tonight lots of food and good
company crossed our decks to enjoy a rather light
winded sail around Gallops Island and back down
President Roads. Even though there was a lack of
breeze, we cut our engines to ghost through the
waters under the peacefulness of canvas alone. We
toured the engine room and the other holds and
compared small boat techniques with larger vessel
operations. In fact on the way out we had to slow
up for a LARGE containership that was departing
with tugboat assistance from the Reserve Channel.
A few brave souls ventured out on the bowsprit.
The sunset was spectacular!
