| Crew Transit Fall River to New Bedford The
crew brought the ship back from Fall River to New
Bedford during the day on Sunday.
You can see the circle in the course track
where we swung ship to check the bearing compass
on board. Compasses often have some error called
'deviation' that should be corrected for when
taking 'bearings' to plot 'lines of position'
that provide 'fixes' on the chart.
Laurie Weitzen is on deck for a shower with
the help of Carl Herzog. It's the best way to
beat the heat!
The lower images show the tight entrance to
our slip on the north face of the New Bedford
State Pier. It gets especially tight when the
fishing fleet is in and rafted two deep.
