Two-day sail from Greenport, Long Island, NYToday we awoke to the
sweet aroma of freshly baked raspberry crumble.
As we emerged from our sleeping quarters, we
immediately found ourselves hoisting anchor and
sails. Following this inspiring show of teamwork,
we were rewarded with a hearty breakfast of
granola, raisin bran, and of course, raspberry
crumble.
We sailed
away from Cherry Cove and out into a shimmering
Block Island Sound. Our learning experience
aboard the Ernestina began by capturing and
observing plankton. Many of us climbed the
rigging and wandered out onto the bowsprit (those
of us brave enough, that is).
As we
reached the top of the rigging, we felt an
incredible sense of achievement looking down on
our new home. Doralee soon served a grand dinner
with a superbly delicious chocolate cake. Now as
our journey comes to an end each one of us shall
always remember the experiences the Ernestina and
her amazingly skilled crew have given us.
