Bettina Borders (1997-2004)
New Bedford

Bettina is an Associate Justice for the Bristol County Division of the Juvenile Trial Court in New Bedford having been sworn-in May 2000 by Lt. Governor Jane Swift. Prior to her appointment, she was partner in the general practice law firm of Borders, Lipman and Peppard focusing on estate planning and probate, civil litigation and juvenile law. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Goddard College, a Masters from Columbia University and Law Doctorate from University of Connecticut.

H. Jim Brown, Chair (1994-present)
Cambridge

Jim is president and CEO of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy in Cambridge. His background is extensive as professor at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, Director for Harvard,s Joint Center for Housing Studies, Director for MIT-Harvard Joint Center for Urban Studies and Chair of Harvard’s Department of City and Regional Planning. He holds a BA degree in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University, Ph.D. in Economics from Indiana University and an A.M. honorary degree from Harvard University.

William Dandridge, PhD, designee of Massachusetts Department of Education (2000-present)

Bill is Vice President for Urban Initiatives at Lesley University with previous experience as Dean of the School of Education at Lesley University, Dean of the Graduate College of Education at UMASS Boston, Executive Director of the MA Field Center for Teaching and Learning at UMASS Boston and various administrative roles in the Boston Public Schools. He holds a D.Ed. degree from UMASS Amherst, Masters degree in Public Administration from Temple University, and a BA degree from Pennsylvania State University.

Peter Lawrence, Treasurer (1994-present)
Duxbury

Peter is Vice-President of Marine Operations at American Overseas Corporation in Quincy after a career at sea as a Master Mariner Unlimited with Moore MacCormack Lines and Farrell Lines. He is a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy where he now serves on the Board of Visitors. He is a past president of the Boston Marine Society, the oldest Marine Society in the world.

Pauline Macedo, Secretary (1994-present)
New Bedford

Pauline has been active in the greater New Bedford community with the Mayors Drug Free Partnership and St. John the Baptist Church and the Fall River Diocese with programs and retreats for youth. She is fluent in Portuguese and familiar with American Sign.

Carol Pimentel, Vice-Chair (1997-present)
New Bedford

Carol serves as Budget Director at UMASS Dartmouth with background as Senior Auditor , Director of the Mayor’s Office of Community Development and City Auditor during the Bullard administration (City of New Bedford). She holds a BS degree in Accounting from MSU (now UMASS Dartmouth) and an M.Ed. from Boston University.

Bruce Rose, PhD  (2001-present)
Dartmouth

Bruce has over 20 years higher education administrative experience at the university, community college and central office level. He currently serves as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at UMASS Dartmouth having previously served as Director of Upward Bound as well as interim Director of Frederick Douglass Unity House . He holds a BA degree from UMASS Amherst, MS degree from UMASS Amherst and D.Ed. degree from UMASS Amherst.
