Each year citizens of all ages sail aboard ERNESTINA as she moves along the coast. Rather than sail light handed between ports as ERNESTINA travels to deliver her programs, berths are available to members who would like to haul along side the full time crew. During transit sails from New Bedford to Boston, Boston to Gloucester, up the Narragansett to Fall River and Providence, out to Cape Cod and the islands, ERNESTINA regularly has a number of members on board. People of all ages are welcome to lend a
hand!
You can take advantage of this great opportunity to "hand, reef and steer" aboard one the most historic ships afloat! As a Crew Member you will receive the ERNESTINA Newsletter which includes
ERNESTINA's sailing and program schedule, including Member Sail Opportunities. Look for this symbol: **~ on the schedule. By simply calling or
emailing the ERNESTINA office, you can reserve your place on the member crew list for any of these Member Sail Opportunities. Members may sail as many times as they wish during the course of the year. Typically up to fifty berths are available for each coastal
passages.
Now, won't you join us?
Please note: Due to limited capital improvement funds, the ship may not be able to complete necessary hull work as required for US Coast Guard inspection in time to get underway for the 2004 sailing season. Even though, as of early April, we may have found an alternative to allow us to reconsider, you should know we may be forced to idle Ernestina at dockside at New Bedford State Pier and would not be able to offer the member sails as part of the membership this year. Stay tuned!
In any case, we hope you will consider membership. Your support keeps Ernestina sailing and will get her sailing again for 2005.... You can sign on as a member by going to the sign-up page. |
