anchor in Cherry Harbor in the lee of Gardiners Island, all
hands were on deck at 0600 to get underway for our return to
Greenport.
The students set the
Foresail (scandalized), and hauled the starboard anchor and
chain using the windlass on the foredeck.
The steady NE breeze
pushed the Schooner across Gardiner’s Bay and watches took

At 0900 we struck sail off
Greenport, and returned all students to their parents waiting
on the Town Pier.
In the afternoon Ernestina
held an OPEN SHIP in conjunction with the East End Maritime
Museum, (sponsored by North Fork Bank).
Visitors came aboard to
learn of the ships vast history, and experience traditional
skills such as Caulking the deck and Knot tying
