June 12th brought the
New Bedford Global Learning Charter School on board the
Ernestina. Students were able to study marine science,
specifically our environment and ecology and how that is
effected by natural processes as well as human impact. Jay
Amster talked with students about water quality and the marine
environment while students were able to examine indigenous
species in a touch tank. Students were able to learn
about the impact of the recent oil spill in our coastal
waters. Program Coordinators: Rhonda
