This morning was our
second day with the group from the Rhode Island Children's
Crusade. After breakfast and morning chores, we put the
dinghy’s in the water and rowed ashore. The students
collected creatures along the intertidal zone, and we had a
rock skipping contest followed by a successful ‘circle
sit.’ After a strong row back against the wind we got
underway setting not only the four lowers, but also the jib
topsail. Students spent the afternoon learning
about plankton and water chemistry and took turns climbing
aloft. In the late afternoon we sailed into Buzzards Bay
and after some tacks, struck our sails and set anchor in Apponagansett
Bay. Before dinner we managed time for a quick swim call
with flips and dives off the bowsprit. We wrapped our
day up with a quick game of ‘Captain Know it all’ and the
story of the Flying Dutchman. It was a great busy
day and we all turned in to our bunks looking forward to some
sleep. By the way, there are many pictures on
this page. If they don't all come up at first simply right
click your mouse where the outline of the picture is and hit
"show picture" and it will load. Program
