Rhode Island Children's Crusade
Three-day program from Providence, RI to New Bedford, MA

Friday, July 18 through Sunday, July 20, 2003

Day Three: July 20

All three days are shown on this chart image except for the upper reaches of Narragansett Bay  first out of Providence. We covered more than 85 miles.

This morning was our third day with the group from the Rhode Island Children’s Crusade.  After breakfast and morning chores, we had another swim call.  Next students figured out how to set the foresail, jumbo and jib and work the windlass to raise the anchor.

We got underway in the late morning and sailed across Buzzards Bay and back into New Bedford.

We sailed through the hurricane barrier into the harbor, furled the sails and came to the dock by 4:30pm. Everyone departed by bus by 5:15. Great trip and many thanks to Courtney and Cedric from the Crusade for all their help and a great job by all!

Program Coordinator: Gretchen Stuppy
Captain: Gregg Swanzey
