This
morning participants woke at 0630 for a breakfast of coffee
cake, pancakes, and sausages.
We were joined by the chaperones and leaders of the
group in time for the meal and a morning muster.
Students were broken up into their watches and spent
some time developing shipping articles.
These articles are a full value contract that student
create and sign as a way to create a comfortable and
cooperative watch.
With a brief safety talk we
were underway to water up.
During this operation, students discussed emergency
operations and were given a brief orientation to the deck.
Students then took part in a discussion onboard led by
the ISACS leaders about the five C’s. This was the first in a series of discussions that students
would take part in during their time onboard.
We got underway again and raised the foresail and
jumbo. Throughout
the rest of the day, students learned navigation and spent
time on the bow sprit as well as took part in another
diversity learning station.
By 1700, we were anchored in
Hull and swim call was announced.
Despite the cold waters, there were a few brave souls
who ventured in to the cheers of the rest of the boat.
After a yummy dinner, students presented skits on what
they have learned through the program in the last few days.
With a show of lightning in the distance, students
headed below decks and into their bunks for the evening!
