This
morning at 0700 we left
Gloucester
Harbor
to transit back to New Bedford.
With 11 people onboard with us, we broke up into
watches for the day. We
set the four lowers and headed south with a strong westerly
breeze. Making 8
knots we raced towards the
Cape Cod Canal
.
By
lunch, the wind began calming, and we mustered together to do
some crew medical training with Ed Ditto.
We reviewed possible non-traumatic emergencies and
discussed how we would address these onboard.
With three new crew we spent time throughout the day
introducing them to the boat and life onboard the Ernestina.
Waiting
for the correct current conditions, we struck the sails and
entered the canal at 0600.
We motored south and arrived in
New Bedford
at 2230.
